Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Monday, April 30, said the PNP is ready to accept returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who wish to be a part of the police force.
Albayalde said OFWs who want to serve the country by being a part of the PNP need to undergo assessments like any other aspiring applicant.
OFWs need to meet the qualifications, minimum requirement, and pass the entrance examination to be administered by the National Police Commission.
“Yes [open ang PNP] kung talagang qualified sila. They have the experience, qualifications, at ‘yung minimum requirement, mapasa nila entrance exam then they are welcome,” he told reporters.
Specific requirements for applicants include:
– The police applicants must be a Filipino;
– Must possess good moral character;
– Have passed psychiatric/psychological, physical, medical, and dental, and drug tests;
– Must possess a formal baccalaureate degree;
– Must not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or on absence without leave or dropped from the rolls of the PNP;
– Must not have been dismissed from any civilian position in the government;
– Must weigh not more or less than 50 kilograms from the standard weight corresponding to his or her height, age, and sex;
– Must not be less than 21 and not more than 30 years old.
– Must have no pending criminal case in any court or not have been convicted by final judgment.
The announcement was made following President Rodrigo Duterte’s plea to OFWs in Kuwait to come home.
