Grab driver files case vs “ungrateful” passenger

The Grab driver who was beaten by his passenger has filed his complaints at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.

Armando Yabut, 30, is suing his passenger, Jinno John Simon, for serious physical injury after the latter allegedly beat him up instead of thanking him for returning his cell phone, reported Inquirer.

According to the victim, Simon booked him for a ride via Grab at around 12:00 AM last February 9, 2018.

He immediately coordinated with the management of Grab to find details of the passenger after noticing that the latter’s iPhone was left in his car.

Yabut called Simon who, he said, insisted for him to return the phone because of an emergency. Yabut said that his passenger even offered him money just to return the phone.

The Grab driver declined his passenger’s monetary offer and decided to return the phone.

When he met his passenger, Yabut said, Simon immediately attacked him and accused of theft.

A police report said that Yabut was brought to the barangay hall wherein he was forced to admit the crime he did not commit and sign a settlement after officials threatened to summon his pregnant wife.

Atty. Ariel Inton, Yabut’s lawyer, said that Simon had not been seen since the incident.
