UAE doctors warn residents on death-causing flu

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates are reminding their people to take flu vaccines and take care of their health, after a man died of pneumonia in Dubai last week.

According to Dr. Mohammed Ashraf, specialist in Internal Medicine in Universal Hospital, the 30-year-old Pakistani man was very healthy and strong until the illness took over his health and died.

In the UAE, the virus causing pneumonia is very much active especially this cold season, reported Khaleej Times.

Dr. Ashraf said that he is receiving ten patients per day and most of them have type A or type B influenza that may eventually develop into pneumonia.

Medical professionals are blaming the rapid change in weather and cooler temperature for the spreading of pneumonia across the country.

Doctors advise people to eat healthy food and never ignore flu-like symptoms including fever and body pain. If symptoms are more severe, it is advisable to immediately consult a doctor.
