Maltreated OFW in Russia returns to her family

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Russia who escaped from her employers by jumping from a second floor apartment was finally repatriated back to the Philippines.

Racquel Fabroz Dela Cruz arrived in the Philippines on September 18 with the help of the Department of Foreign Affairs and has been reunited with her family. She worked for a couple in Russia for two years.

According to a local media in Yakutsk, Russia, Dela Cruz planned to transfer to another agency because of delayed salary and overtime payments.

Upon learning this, her employers kept her belongings in order to prevent her from leaving.

Dela Cruz jumped from a second floor apartment where she was illegally detained in order to escape from the maltreatment of her employers. She sustained a broken back and left leg from the escape.

After seven months of process in the Philippine embassy in Moscow, Dela Cruz was repatriated to her country with a representative from the embassy to accompany her on her trip home.
