Dubai Electricity and Power Authority (DEWA) called on households to limit using some appliances during the hottest months of the year.
Using electric appliances such as washing machines, electric ovens, and water heaters should be avoided between midday and 6 p.m., DEWA said, the National reports.
The call to limit summer power consumption is part of DEWA’s “Let’s Make this Summer Green” campaign, which aims to reduce Dubai’s carbon footprint.
“The ultimate goal is to encourage energy conservation among all members of society and promote the sensible use of resources as a social culture and daily practice,” the National quoted DEWA chief executive Saeed Al Tayer as saying.
The appeal also supports the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy’s goal of decreasing energy demand by 30 percent by 2030.
