About 58 percent Pinoys use mobile phones to break up with their partners, according to a recent online survey that examined how Filipinos end their relationships.
Almost 30 percent resorted to text messaging, 22 percent turned to phone calls, while 7 percent used instant messenger to split, ABS-CBN News quoted the survey titled “Heartbreaks and Healing”.
The survey, conducted by online shopping site Lazada covering 500 Filipinos, reportedly suggested that 34 percent broke up with their partners in person, while 6.3 percent said they ended the relationship through a handwritten letter.
The survey also reportedly showed that online profiling has become a standard practice among Filipinos, with 54 percent of respondents saying that they check a potential date’s social media page before going out with him or her.
Sixty percent of respondents have said they lost interest in a person they once liked after doing more research on social media.
The Internet continues to have a huge role even after breakups, with more than half of respondents (52 percent) saying they have stalked their ex’s social media page after the split.
One out of every three respondents admitted to getting back together with their ex, the report said.
Almost 65 percent of respondents said they share their e-mail, phone and app passwords with their significant other.
Seventy-five percent of respondents agreed that giving gifts helps in the reconciliation process, with 69 percent of them saying that such items need not be expensive, reported ABS-CBN News.
