Tropical cyclone “Marce” intensified on Friday morning into a storm and continued to track west northwest toward Panay Island.
In a 5 a.m. advisory, state weather bureau PAGASA noted Marce’s sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 110 kph, as it moves at 24 kph.
As of 4 a.m., the cyclone was spotted at 85 kilometers east southeast of Roxas City, reported Philippine Star.
Signal No. 2 warning was reportedly issued for a few Luzon areas such as Romblon, Calamian Group of Islands, Southern Occidental Mindoro and Southern Oriental Mindoro.
PAGASA also raised warning signals for Visayas areas that included Northern Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Northern Antique, the report said.
Signal No. 1 warning was issue for Northern Palawan including Cuyo Island, Rest of Oriental Mindoro, Rest of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island and Masbate including Burias and Ticao Island, said the news portal
In Visayas, Biliran, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Negros Oriental, Rest of Negros Occidental and Guimaras faced Signal No. 1 warning, reported Philippine Star.
