Accused pedophile treats PH prison ‘like a resort’

MANILA: An alleged pedophile kingpin being held in a Filipino jail has reportedly been treating prison life “like a resort”, demanding large quantities of fresh meat, a mobile phone and extra visiting hours.

Peter Scully, 53, is accused of a string of sickening charges, including the alleged sexual abuse of 11 children and the murder of a 12-year-old girl, whose remains were found under his home.

Alejandra Jose Pallugna, Scully’s lawyer, quit in dramatic fashion last weekend saying he was “mightly sick” of his client’s excessive demands, reported 7news.

“He wants me to visit him at least twice a week,” Pallugna reportedly told Fairfax. “He wants five kilos of fresh beef, pork, chicken, anything – like he lives in a resort. Demanding is an understatement.”

Scully reportedly fled his home in Melbourne in 2011 after being wanted for fraud and started a new life in the Philippines.

The twice-bankrupt businessman allegedly ran an online video service, where paying subscribers could watch the sexual torture of children.

Scully has pleaded not guilty to the rape and trafficking of two teenage girls in a Filipino court, said the news portal, adding that his trial could begin as early as next month, with his supporters confident he could be escape charges.

A large portion of physical evidence against Scully was destroyed in a fire last year, including a video camera, a computer and a memory card, the report pointed out.

Scully’s new lawyer could take advantage of that fact, and possibly see him face lesser charges or even walk free, 7news quoted Pallugna as saying.
