Filipino salesman dies in Saudi car accident

Taif, SAUDI ARABIA: A deadly car accident took the life of a Filipino man and left his friend in a critical condition on the first day of the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

The Filipino man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was announced dead on arrival by the Saudi officials. Meanwhile, his friend Celso Paluyo is currently under observation in a hospital.

Vice Consul Alex Estomo, head of the Assistance to National Section of Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, told GMA News that the accident occurred on Wednesday, July 6. According to Estomo, he received a call from Dioscoro Halasan, the driver involved in the accident, and told him that their vehicle was hit from the back by another vehicle around 7:30PM in Taif. He then recalled seeing two passengers bleeding 20 meters away from their Hyundai Elantra car.

Taif is a popular place in Saudi to go to for OFWs during the holidays. It’s two hours away from Jeddah. According to Halasan, he and his friends were coming from a trip in Taif and were looking for a place to eat when the accident happened.

The man who died and his friend Paluyo were both working as salesmen.
