A power bank exploded in the Senate’s Bills and Index office on Thursday afternoon, nearly causing a fire, officials said.
According to an initial report shared by Senate Secretary Renato Bantug, the incident occurred at 3:50 p.m.
“Bills and Index employee [redacted] used a fire extinguisher to put out the exploded power bank owned by [redacted],” the report read.
Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) arrived at 4:05 p.m. to inspect the area and declared the situation under control.
Bantug told local media via text that no documents were affected by the incident.
The incident comes a few months after a fire broke out in the Senate building in Pasay City last November.
