Court acquits De Lima in last, final drug charges

The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court has acquitted former Senator Leila de Lima in her last and third drug charges filed during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The camp of De Lima filed the demurrer to evidence on the last pending case against her.

A demurrer means there is not enough evidence on the case and it can be dismissed by the court.

De Lima’s lawyer Boni Tacardon said the court granted their request for demurrer to evidence paving the way to acquit the former senator from all her drug charges.

The former senator was released and was allowed to post bail last November 2023 after being detained in Camp Crame for 7 years.
