The chief executive officer of social media platform TikTok is optimistic that they can win a legal challenge seeking to block the legislation signed by United States President Joe Biden banning the platform.
The short video app is being used by 170 million Americans and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew said the app is not going anywhere.
Biden said the company has 270 days to divest its US assets or face a ban.
“Rest assured—we aren’t going anywhere. The facts and the Constitution are on our side and we expect to prevail again,” said Chew.
Chew added that despite the newly signed law. the app will continue to operate.
“Make no mistake—this is a ban on TikTok,” he said.
TikTok is set to challenge the bill on First Amendment grounds or the right to free speech. TikTok users are also expected to again take legal action against the legislation.
