2 Singaporeans arrested at NAIA for yielding P76M worth of cocaine

Two Singaporean female passengers were apprehended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for trying to smuggle some P76.1 million worth of cocaine into the country.

In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said members of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) nabbed Siti Aishah Awang, 63; and Nur Alavuyah Binti Hanaffe, 39 when they arrived at the airport on Thursday.

The passengers arrived from Doha, Qatar onboard Qatar Airways Flight QR 928.

Some 14,360 grams of suspected cocaine contained in 341 pellets were confiscated from the passengers.

In a Philippine News Agency report, the suspects will be facing violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002 and RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
