Dubai Aviation City Corporation, in collaboration with Dubai South, has entered into an agreement with Dubai Insurance to introduce a comprehensive Employee Protection Insurance program for employees of all Dubai South licensees registered under the Dubai Aviation City Corporation. The program will be effective starting in August.
In a statement released on Monday, Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, noted that the collaboration is in line with the UAE’s strategic vision to prioritize employee rights and uphold corporate governance standards.
“This partnership aligns with the UAE’s strategic vision for employee rights and corporate governance. Implementing the Employee Protection Insurance programme will significantly boost the confidence of our licensees, showcasing our unwavering dedication to fostering an exceptional working environment and reaffirming our commitment to upholding Dubai’s competitive position on the global stage,” Al Zaffin said.
The Employee Protection Insurance program is designed to provide a safety net for employees in situations where Dubai South licensees may not fulfill their obligations. It covers areas such as unpaid salaries, end-of-service gratuities, repatriation costs for employees returning to their home countries, repatriation costs for mortal remains, and unreimbursed expenses.
Moreover, the program will be mandatory for all new employment visas and work permits, requiring employers to adopt this scheme to safeguard their employees. For existing visas, the program will become mandatory during the renewal of residence visas.
The signing of the agreement took place at the headquarters of Dubai South, with Al Zaffin, Abdellatif Abuqurah, CEO of Dubai Insurance, as well as senior executives from both organizations.
