A 39-year-old tourist has survived a terrifying bungee cord break in Thailand.
Mike, who chose to disclose his first name only for privacy reasons, decided to go bungee jumping in a 10-story-high podium in Pattaya while he was on vacation with a friend in January this year.
Mike jumped off the podium, and just seconds before he reached the bottom of the plunge the rope snapped, sending him into the water below.
Fortunately, he was able to come up to the surface and swim, even though his feet were still tied together by the lower part of the bungee cord.
Footage of the scene went viral this week after Mike went public with his story.
Meanwhile, the Changthai Thappraya Safari and Adventure Park covered the cost of Mike’s X-ray and ultrasound scans as well as refunding the price of the jump.
Nithit Intim, founder of the park, confirmed the accident took place and said it was the first time he had seen a cord snap. He also revealed that Mike had signed a liability waiver before making the jump.
Moreover, Intim noted that the park would be willing to pay any further direct medical expenses in Hong Kong if receipts were provided.
