Hey guys! As Ramadan draws near, school hours are expected to commence between 8am to 9am and conclude around 1pm to 2pm. Similarly, work hours are likely to be reduced by two hours. To fill in those extra hours, here’s a list of things that Gen Zers can do this Ramadan to make those hours count:
1 – Learn new skills
Make the most out of your extra time during the day by reflecting on yourself and finding something interesting to learn. You can learn various skills online or in person via school clubs or external classes. For example, you could get into chess and become the new Magnus Carlsen.
2 – Enjoy Iftar at a Nice Hotel or Restaurant
While it’s customary to have Iftar at home, you might want to experiment with some nice hotels to have some bussin’ food. Inviting friends and family is always a good way to spend time.
3 – Partake in Charitable Activities
The Ramadan season fosters a time for reflection and a period when you can spread the goodness of Allah. The practice of giving amplifies one’s sincerity and is a perfect opportunity to give back to the community. You can either do volunteer work or donate for a humane cause.
4 – Have a purposeful screentime
Another way to spend your Ramadan is being intentional in choosing what you watch and use it as a time to spend with the people who matters to you most. Spending time with your favorite people while watching something educational and feel-good can be in your to-do list during Ramadan.
5 – Share your blessing through gift giving
With several shops dropping prices, the extra hours in the day can be a perfect way to cop some fire deals. Utilize the lowered rates as a means to share goodness. Gift your family and friends with things they need most. These deals also allow you to prepare early for your Iftar needs.
6 – Socialize
Light to moderate exercise or bonding through sporty activities is recommended during Ramadan as it is helps release energy, stretch, and adjust with the routine change brought by Ramadan. You can use this time to meet some friends and channel your inner Ronaldo through sporty activities to deepen bonds and friendships.
7 – Be productive
More free hours mean more time to help at home and do some creative work. You can either help setup for your Suhoor and Iftar or work on a project which will benefit not only you but the people around you. Tidy up or catch up on some housework.
8- Understanding Ramadan
While leisure might be on top of our minds in terms of things to do, learning about Ramadan is one of the most purposeful ways to spend this year’s Holy Month. This comes in many ways such as taking part in UAE’s free activities that we can participate in. This last item in our to-do list will help us understand our Muslim brothers and sisters.
