Musk has previously expressed his disappointment over the moderation policy of Twitter and even called himself an advocate of free speech.

“Free speech is the bedrock of functioning democracy and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement.

The billionaire is excited to work with the company.
