New radars powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been installed on numerous roads in Abu Dhabi to monitor and catch vehicles who fail to stop at pedestrian crossings.
The smart system called “Hather”, which means “Be Careful”, assists vehicles in adhering to road rules by prioritizing people crossing at designated areas.
As shown in a video published by the police force online, the smart radar system aims to decrease pedestrian run-overs in the Capital.

The new radars send instructional messages to drivers warning them of the need of completely stop their vehicles when people cross the street.
Failing to give way to pedestrians awaits a fine of AED500 and 6 black points.
