Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon hits back at the legal counsel of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) for urging the Comelec enb banc to investigate her.
PFP is the party-list of former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“I challenge George Briones of Partido Federal of BBM to a debate on TV. If he thinks he is brighter than me he should agree. The Commission En Banc @COMELEC has no jurisdiction over an administrative complaint against a Commissioner. I am an impeachable officer. You people better study. Let’s debate on TV,” Guanzon said in a Twitter post.
Guanzon added that the party could be cited in contempt.
“Does BBM know that Partido Federal is threatening me, the Presiding Commissioner while his case is pending? Maybe I’ll contempt you and put you in the Manila city jail,” she added.
PFP legal counsel George Briones earlier said that Guanzon should be “disbarred, with forfeiture of her retirement benefits and lifetime pension” for disclosing her vote on the disqualification petition against Marcos to the media.
“The PFP requests the Comelec En Banc to conduct an administrative investigation immediately against her for alleged violation of the Canons of Judicial Ethics and Code of Judicial Conduct before her retirement benefits are released,” PFP said in a statement.
Guanzon revealed to the media that she voted in favor of the disqualification petitions against Marcos Jr., and hinted that a powerful politician could be behind the delay in the division’s decision.
