Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has filed her candidacy for vice president.
The Commission on Elections says Sara Duterte’s substitution papers were filedby representative Charo Munsalac.
Sara is now running under the Lakas-CMD which fielded a certain Anna Velasco as presidential bet and Lyle Uy for vice president.
Under the COMELEC rules, candidates can substitute until November 15.
Last week, Sara quit her local party Hugpong ng Pagbabago and joined Lakas.
“The officials and members of Lakas-CMD are elated to welcome Davao
City Mayor Sara Duterte as new member of our party. We had long been
inviting Mayor Inday to join our party as we are all impressed with
her sterling qualities as a leader and we saw up close her exemplary
work ethic as chief executive of Davao City,” Romualdez said.
Romualdez said that the oath taking took place immediately at the Revilla Farm in Silang, Cavite. Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., Lakas-CMD chairman, witnessed the oath-taking of Duterte.
The political party boast producing two presidents including former president Fidel V. Ramos and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Romualdez said the presidential daughter will be a very promising leader and
a tremendous asset to the Lakas-CMD.
“I am confident that with Mayor Sara’s exceptional brand of
leadership, she can help our party chart a new course that will ensure
a brighter tomorrow for our children and the next generation,” he added.
