Manila Mayor Isko Moreno bared his plans to appoint his running mate Dr. Willie Ong as health secretary should he win the presidency in the 2022 elections.
“Bibigyan ko ng laya si Doktor Willie Ong kasi ko siya maging sekretaryo ng Kalusugan bilang Vice President,” Moreno said in a statement.
Moreno added that he will give Ong the freedom to manage the Department of Health (DOH).
The presidential aspirant said Ong has committed to help him fix the country’s public health system.
Should he decline the offer, Moreno said that Ong will play a major role in deciding the country’s next Health Secretary.
“Pero sabi niya, tutulong siya sa’kin pero tutulong siya makapamili ng mapipili niya, mapupusuan niya na magaling, episyente, at may kakayanang yung usaping pangkalusugan ng mga kababayan nating Pilipino,” he said.
