Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has challenged the national task force against COVID-19 to file charges against possible lapses of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) officials for opening the dolomite beach in the city.
Moreno said the influx of people and overcrowding in recent days could be a potential super spreader event.

If they cannot implement it within their offices, then there is no point implementing it sa mga taongbayan,” he said.
DENR officials said that tens of thousands flocked to the artificial beach area since its opening.
Health protocols were not strictly followed. Moreno laments that the city government was not informed on the plans of the DENR to open the dolomite beach.
“I hope this is not just lip service… that they would file cases against violators,” the Manila Mayor said, noting that the dolomite beach is still under the jurisdiction of the DENR.

Binuksan nila, hindi naman kami na-inform . It is under construction, it is under control,” he said.
The DENR said that they are addressing the overcrowding at the beach but admits lapses in the implementation.
(TDT)
