Authorities in Ajman have apprehended an 18-year-old suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident at Corniche Street in the emirate on Tuesday.
Ajman Police said that the teenager tried to flee the scene after hitting an elderly man with his car.
“Our operations room received a report about the accident in Al Nakheel Area Two,” Major Issa Al Shamsi of Ajman Police said.
The elderly man was brought to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital for treatment.
“A witness who saw the accident wrote down the number plate of the car that ran over the man and gave it to police,” the police official said.
The case was referred to the Public Prosecution.
