Traffic violators get flowers in UAE

Motorists in Abu Dhabi who were caught violating the traffic rules instead of being slapped with fines were handed over roses by traffic police.

The Abu Dhabi Police spearheaded the ‘Hand in Hand’ initiative in a bid to raise public awareness on road safety and correct driving behaviors. Instead of issuing traffic fines, the police offiers did a brief lecture about the violation that each motorists were caught doing, and were handed out flowers in the end.

“This initiative is aimed at enhancing awareness among drivers by educating them about the importance of safe driving by adhering to traffic rules and regulations.” said Lt Colonel Saif Mohammed Al Ameri, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department in Al Ain,

The traffic campaigns were also carried out on various roads in Al Ain city.

Apart from flowers, police patrols also handed out road safety brochures urging drivers to respect other road users, including pedestrians and delivery riders. (AW)
