The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has facilitated the arrival of the remains of slain overseas Filipino worker Ma. Sheigrid Sanchez Santos.
Her remains arrived from Dubai at the Clark International Airport via Emirates Airlines flight EK 0324 on Monday.
The DFA said that the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai worked on the immediate repatriation of remains of former OFW Santos.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs highly appreciates the assistance extended by UAE authorities to the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai for the repatriation of the remains of Ms. Sheigrid Sanchez Santos,” DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola said in a statement.

“The DFA and Philippine Consulate General in Dubai will continue working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and law enforcement agencies in the UAE to prosecute the case against the perpertrators and ensure that justice will be served,” she added.
The DFA also tasked a legal retainer in Dubai to ensure justice for the slain OFW.
Last July, initial reports showed that Santos was killed after sustaining head injuries. The police said that the suspects are now in their custody.
In the last three months, “her remittances were not coming regularly,” and so they suspected something amiss.

Mariel, Santos’ daughter, even recalled that Santos had an argument with her employers last June 2021.
“We told her to come home even without her money, but mama insisted she had to fight for what is hers, her salary,” she said.
Santos was illegally recruited to the UAE via tourist visa. (TDT)
