UAE ranks among top 20 countries for tolerance, globalization

The efforts of the UAE leadership to achieve global competitiveness have been recognized once again as the Emirates has been ranked among the top 20 countries in the global list for tolerance and globalization.

The INSEAD and the IMD Business School were among the indexes of global competitive rankings that gave the country a high score in terms of tolerance and globalization.

According to INSEAD’s Global Talent Competitiveness Index for 2020, UAE along with Australia and Portugal ranked fourth for tolerance of immigrants.

Canada was placed first, followed by New Zealand (second), and Norway (third).

The INSEAD’s Global Talent Competitiveness Index ranks countries based on their ability to develop, attract, retain and enable talent.

The UAE came 11th on INSEAD’s annual report for its tolerance of minorities, which was topped by European countries Iceland and Ireland.

Meanwhile, in the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2020, the UAE was placed fifth overall out of 63 economies in the ‘attitudes towards globalization’ category.

Denmark placed first, followed by Sweden (second), Hong Kong (third) and Singapore (fourth).

Moreover, the UAE also performed its best social cohesion (fifth), on resilience and adaptation (11th) and the state’s social responsibility towards citizens and residents (12th).

The IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking measures the capacity and readiness of 63 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies as a key driver for economic transformation in business, government and wider society.

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre said the high rankings on the affirms the country’s has succeeded in achieving ‘global leadership levels in the field of competitiveness and exceeded the targets set in the UAE Vision 2021.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, commenting on the role of the UAE in promoting coexistence said, “The UAE’s prominent global stature in tolerance and coexistence indexes is a source of pride and proof that we live in a country with a long history and traditional culture supported by a community that is keen to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and giving.”

In his statement on the UAE’s top 20 ranking in various tolerance and coexistence indexes, Sheikh Nahyan stressed, “We are living in a country whose achievements are protected by a wise and aware leadership, which encourages enlightened ideas and ethical behaviour.” (RA)
