A taxi driver will spend six months behind bars followed by deportation for illegally ferrying passengers in Dubai.
The Dubai Criminal Court also ordered him to hand over AED21,000 he made from driving the taxi illegally.
The Pakistani man, 24, confessed to borrowing a taxi owned by the Roads and Transport Authority from his friend, a fellow Pakistani, 29.

To avoid getting caught he disconnected the GPS, car’s meter, and cameras from the vehicle.
The man was arrested after he was caught by an RTA inspector playing loud music while driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol.
He presented the ID of his friend when he was stopped by authorities.
The driver was charged for using an ID that did not belong him and driving dangerously.

Investigation revealed that he was a former driver who was sacked in 2018.
Meanwhile, his friend who allowed him to use the vehicle was also charged and fined AED21,000.
Both men are sentenced to six months in jail followed by deportation. (RA)
