Kapamilya TV anchor Karen Davila has set the record straight on her alleged rift with veteran journalist Korina Sanchez.
In a vlog by comedian Ogie Diaz, Davila was asked if she and Korina are not on good terms.
“Recently, nagkita kami ni Korina at a party kay Anton San Diego and he posted it at ang andaming natuwa dun and I think it’s because it’s the first time people saw Korina and I together,” Davila said.

She, later on, recalled how her transfer to ABS-CBN triggered speculations that she and Korina are fierce competitors.
“And I would like to say it in the best way I could, Korina Sanchez was already an icon noong nagpunta ako sa ABS. Lumipat ako sa ABS-CBN noong 2001. Korina Sanchez na po siya. Sikat na sikat na po siya. In other words, kailanman ay hindi po kami nagpantay. Hindi po ako competitor ni Korina or the next Korina. The only person that I can be is Karen. That’s all I can say,” she said.
Davila said that people pit them together when in fact there’s no issue between the two of them.

Davila was a former GMA-7 talent and later on transferred to the Kapamilya network. She also replaced Korina in the primetime newscast TV Patrol when Korina’s husband Mar Roxas ran for higher office.
She was also asked if she and Korina greet each other whenever they cross paths.
“To be fair, there were times na nagbabatian kami. But we didn’t have really the opportunity to really spend time together. Nasayangan lang ako in ABS was I wish Korina and I met in different circumstances that I got to know her because people tell me she’s a good friend, a loyal friend to have,” Davila ended. (TDT)
