Tropical storm Dante moves to Luzon, 11 areas under Signal No.2

Tropical Storm ‘Dante’ (international name “Choi-wan”) is expected to make another landfall in Luzon on Wednesday, June 2. 

Dante’s first three landfalls were in Sulat, Eastern Samar; Cataingan, Masbate; and Balud, Masbate.

It made its fourth landfall over Romblon, Romblon at 8 a.m. on June 2, and the fifth landfall over San Agustin, Romblon at 8:50 a.m. on June 2.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Dante is now heading towards the coast of Oriental Mindoro. 

“Tropical storm Dante is now moving northwestward of Oriental Mindoro,” PAGASA said in a tweet.

Within the 24-hour period, the typhoon is expected to bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Calabarzon, Romblon, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Zambales, and Bataan.

The following area are under signal number 2:

  •  Extreme portion of Capiz, including Roxas City, Pilar, Ivisan, Panay, and Sapi-an
  • Northern portion of Aklan including Batan, New Washington, Kalibo, Numancia, Nabas, Ibajay, Tangalan, Makato, and Malay
  • Extreme northern portion of Iloilo including Balasan, Carles, Estancia and Batad
  • Southern portion of Quezon including Tagkawayan, Sariaya, Lucena City, Pagbilao, Padre Burgos, Agdangan, Unisan, Atimonan, Plaridel, Gumaca, Pitogo, Lopez, Calauag, Guinayangan, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Buenavista, San Narciso, San Andres, San Francisco, Mulanay, Quezon, Perez, Alabat
  • Extreme southeastern portion of Batangas, including San Juan, Lobo
