All 1,125,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines of the government have been deployed to various public and private hospitals across the country, according to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez.
Galvez added that the Philippines is set to inoculate senior citizens, indigent population, and other vulnerable sectors beginning April and May. The vaccination will be made after vaccinating 1.7 million medical professionals and other healthcare workers in mid-April.
“We have prioritized the vaccination of our healthcare workers to preserve the integrity of our health care system,” he said.
Mass vaccination of the general public will start once the vaccine production and supply.
Galvez said that if the vaccine supply will become stable, they aim to vaccinate 1 million weekly in April, 2 million in May and 3-5 million in June to reach the target of the 70 million Filipinos.
The country received 600,000 doses of China-donated CoronaVac and 525,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines through the COVAX Facility.
The government is expecting to receive 2.3 million more doses of Chinese vaccine and AstraZeneca vaccine this month. (TDT)
