The family of Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio, who were brutally killed last December by policeman Jonel Nuezca, wants to speed up the hearing of their case to get justice.
Florentino Gregorio, the father and husband of the victims, said that the hearing only begun two months after the crime.
The suspect, Nuezca, was only present via Zoom in a hearing held last February 4.
“Nung pinapoint sa akin, pinatanggal ko mask niya. Pinatanong ko kung anong pangalan niya para nadidinig ng korte na siya ang tinutukoy ko,” Florentino said.
The first hearing only tackled the damages on the case.
“Puro danyos lang po ang napag-anohan,” he said. Florentino said that despite their family seeking for damages, this won’t be enough for the lives of their loved ones.
The family said that they are worried that Nuezca might be released if not convicted early.
“Baka mabaligtad pa pangyayari,” he said. The government on the other hand has promised a thorough investigation. The family is hoping for a speedy trial on the case.
“Gusto ko mapagdusahan niya ‘yun,” he said. (TDT)
