Motorist ordered to pay AED30,000 over Al Ain road mishap

A motorist was ordered by the Al Ain Civil Court of First Instance to pay AED30,000 to a mother, whose daughter was severely injured in a road accident caused by the defendant’s reckless driving.

The order stemmed from the case filed by the mother, who demanded AED100,000 from the motorist for his reckless driving.

In a report by khaleejtimes.com, official court documents showed that the defendant figured in an accident in Al Ain that saw his car collide with another vehicle carrying the victim and other family members.

The child sustained severe injuries in the forehead and right elbow as well as bruises in other parts of her body.

The police accused the defendant of reckless driving and violating traffic rules.

The defendant was also found to be under the influence of psychotropic substances during the accident.

Court records also showed that the defendants was previously convicted for causing an accident.

According to the report, the court reviewed the doctor’s report and later on decided that AED30,000 be paid to the victim for the injuries she suffered. (CC)
