On Dacera case: Reserve judgement till all facts are in – Panelo

Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo said that until investigations are completed, concerned parties must reserve judgment regarding the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera on New Year’s Day.

In a statement, Panelo said that there may been many speculations about her death that are not completely accurate, and that it is best to wait for results of the investigation before making assumptions.

“Since the investigation on Christine’s death is on-going, we advise those who are concerned with the case to reserve their judgements until all the facts are in,” he said.

“It is best that we await the final result of a thorough investigation by our law enforcement authorities. The autopsy report on the deceased is a guide to determine the cause of death,” he added.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continue to stress that Dacera’s death was a “rape-slay” case. However, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said it cannot be considered “solved” until all the perpetrators had been held to account.

Panelo said that once evidence surfaced about the crime, the concerned offenders will be dealt in accordance with the law.

“Should there be evidence that a crime was committed, then this administration assures that the offenders thereof, regardless of who they are, will be dealt with in accordance with law that justice may be served,” he said.
