UAE expat residents who have scheduled work this coming Friday, January 1 will enjoy an official paid holiday following the announcement from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.
“The government has announced Friday, 1st January, 2021, an official paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE, to celebrate the New Year,” as per a news report from Emirates News Agency.

The holiday announcement was made through a circular issued by His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization.
Considering that Friday is a regular weekly day off for majority of private sector workers, this holiday would benefit those who have flexible working days and hours.
