Siling labuyo or red chilies in Philippine markets now costs Php1,000-1,200 per kilo.
In a report on GMA News, vendors say they only keep 1/2 kilo stock because siling labuyo starts to disintegrate in 2 days.

“Nagugulat yung mga bumibili. Binibitawan,” a vendor told GMA News.
The Department of Agriculture said that there is a shortage of supply of siling labuyo in the market causing an increase in prices.

People who are planting siling labuyo were also affected by recent typhoons.
Vendors raised the concern to DA officials that their profits have gone down since they could not pass on to consumers the increase in the cost from their suppliers. (TDT)
