Wounded OFWs in Beirut explosion now at 24

The Philippine Embassy in Beirut reported more injured overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), a day after the cataclysmic explosion in Lebanon’s capital which sowed devastation across its neighborhoods.

In a tweet on Thursday, Foreign Affairs Secretary Brigido Dulay said the latest number of injured OFWs has climbed to 24.

The wounded Filipinos, who mostly sustained minor injuries, are household helpers who were staying in the employers’ homes at the time of the incident.

One OFW, however, remains in critical condition, according to Dulay.

Earlier, the embassy reported two Filipinos killed in the explosion while one household help remains missing.

All the 12 seafarers earlier reported to be missing have been found safe.

Meanwhile, the Philippine government on Wednesday vowed to expedite the repatriation of the remains of those killed in the massive blast.
