Taguig City on Thursday reported a 100-percent recovery rate in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in two areas that were placed under localized lockdown.
Mayor Lino Cayetano said there were 506 recoveries among the COVID-19 cases in Barangays Fort Bonifacio and Lower Bicutan, where a localized quarantine was declared.
However, he said the localized quarantine will still be in effect in these areas until the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) declares these areas as cleared.
“We were in close coordination with the national government and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) who provided support via prioritization at the national testing and quarantine facilities,” Cayetano said in a statement.
Cayetano added that localized lockdowns help in keeping the economy open and ensures continuity of jobs for the people.
“May this good news encourages all of us to continue being vigilant against the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” he added.
As of Tuesday, the city has 1,836 confirmed cases, with 167 active cases, 1,643 recoveries, and 26 deaths.
