A court in Bahrain sentenced an employee at the civil defence to 10 years in prison after he was convicted of taking a BD2,000 (Php250,000) bribe.
Police arrested the employee after he was reported by the Anti-Corruption Commission, a state body in charge of countering corruption and other malpractices in government departments.
Newspapers said the court found the man guilty of asking for a bribe from a local company in exchange for some services.
The defendant denied the charge but reports state that the Commission presented enough evidence to convict him.
