‘Where the World comes to Eat’: LuLu hosts ‘World Food Festival’ with global cuisines, contests, celebrities

Filipinos and UAE residents will enjoy a wide range of flavors coming from different parts of the globe as LuLu, the region’s largest hypermarket chain, begins its annual ‘World Food’ festival that stretches from February 19 to March 7, 2020.

 

From country-specific cuisines like Pagkaing Pinoy, Akel Arabi, and Desi Dhaba to specific food treats including World Street Food, Sweet Treats, BBQ Festival, and more, the choices are endless for shoppers and food lovers as they enjoy LuLu’s food extravaganza spanning 25 countries, with over 300 cooking competitions and 20 live performances from celebrity chefs and personalities coming from all over the world.

 

“We have been organising our food festival for more than 15 years now, but this is our biggest celebration yet. This year, we have received extensive support from different embassies, trade promotion councils, various community organisations, hotel and tourism sector, celebrity chefs, and social media influencers. Our aim is to offer something unique and a more experiential and engaging shopping experience for our diverse shoppers,” shares LuLu Group Director Salim M.A.

 

Here are some of the festivals that you’ll enjoy during the three-week culinary festival:

Pagkaing Pinoy. The Philippines’ finest chefs based in the UAE go head to head to determine the ultimate Pinoy Master Kusinero for Filipino cuisine, along with featuring the flavors of the country.

Festival Dates: February 28-29 across LuLu stores

Preliminary competition: Feb 28

Final competition: March 5

Locations for Final Round: Al Rayyan Sharjah; World Trade Center, Abu Dhabi; Sanaiya, Al Ain

BBQ Festival. Steaming hot goodness from the grillers will entice your taste buds for a weekend of BBQ delights from around the globe.

Festival Dates: February 23-24 across LuLu stores

Preliminary competition: Feb 23

Final competition: February 29

Locations for Final Round: Barsha, Dubai; Khalidiyah, Abu Dhabi; Kuwaitat, Al Ain

World Street Food. A sure treat for all foodies – different kinds of street food from all over the world will be offered across selected LuLu stores.

Akel Arabi: Best Arabian Cuisines. Enjoy Arabic cuisine like never before as you do a deep dive with your palate on authentic Arabian dishes.

Bachelors’ Day Out. Cook off with singles and grooms-to-be! Who says only women can cook? These bachelors will go head-to-head in a cook off that will showcase their skills in the kitchen.

Final Competition: February 28

Cook with Mom. Kids’ Cooking Competition. Cooking isn’t limited to any age as UAE residents will witness children and teens have a go at the kitchens – with their mom’s guidance of course!
