‘Paskong Pinoy Countdown’: PH Embassy spreads good vibes for overseas Filipinos through COVID-19 safety reminder music video

Marking the countdown of 12 days of Christmas worldwide, the Philippine Embassy in the UAE has released a video that showcases the creativity of Filipinos in celebrating the Christmas season while also highlighting the importance of protection and prevention against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Hjayceelyn Quintana hopes that the music video which is an adaptation of APO Hiking Society’s “12 days of Pinoy Krismas” will help promote the message of good tidings and good vibes amongst overseas Filipinos here in the UAE while keeping in mind all measures to stay safe this Christmas.

“The Embassy is happy to put together this music video that lifts up the spirit during this most important season for the Filipinos and bring home the message of a safe and meaningful celebration of Christmas for our kababayans in UAE,” said Amb. Quintana.

UAE-based Filipino singer and all-around performer Alvin Pancito created the lyrics and sang a joyful adaptation of the popular Christmas song which he replaced with essential items and pieces of advice that OFWs should remember to keep themselves safe during the pandemic.

In the video, Pancito is seen around several landmarks of Abu Dhabi and Dubai including the Burj Khalifa, the Louvre, Emirates Palace, the Abu Dhabi Theatre, Burj Al Arab, and more.

Each time he is seen at a UAE landmark, he provides a list of essential items that overseas Filipinos and expats need during these times including a face shield, rubbing alcohol, a box of face masks, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, a bottle of vitamins, and food supplements.

The jingle also reminds viewers of the importance of social distancing, frequent handwashing, avoiding crowded places, eating healthy food, and the power of prayer.

“May pandemya man, tuloy pa rin ang Pasko!” said Pancito in the video.
