DUBAI: Twenty-three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), mostly in their mid-20s to mid-30s, tied the knot in a group wedding officiated by Vice Consul Marianne Bringas last Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Philippine Consulate General’s Office (PCGO) in Al Qusais.
Most of the newly-weds either went through a long distance relationship (LDR) or met up in Dubai.
They decided to be married as UAE has strict laws against unmarried couples living together.
Among PCGO requirements include a Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) to be obtained at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
An average of about 25 OFW couples are getting married at PCGO every Thursday. The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi also holds weekly group weddings of OFWs.
