OFWs encouraged to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit at PPIE 2019

Studies, reports, and testimonials have already established that Filipinos are among the best employees that can be hired, making them trustworthy workers worthy of international praise. The next ideal step – is for these Global Filipinos to launch their own businesses and guide the next generation of workers.

Three experts flown from the Philippines in a panel moderated by The Filipino Times General Manager Vince Ang during the Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition 2019 discussed how OFWs can motivate themselves to think about businesses that will sustain their future together with their loved ones.

Foreigners trust Filipinos. Quatro Verde Managing Director Jeffrey San Juan advised that entrepreneurs should never compromise their skill over the monetary value that they can offer for the client and adds that many of the UAE’s employers place a big trust for Filipino workers: “Part by part – do the work as per your client’s budget and prove to them you can do it with the quality that your skill can offer. Gawin mo muna yung basic para makuha mo yung kumpiyansa ng kliyente mo. Ang mga kliyente naman pag alam at nakita nila na Pinoy ang mga tao at mga trabahador, tiwala sila sa gawa ng Pinoy at ikaw ang papaboran.”

Know your values. Dagaz Management Consultancy Managing Director Cristina Calaguian said that the UAE laws make it easy and convenient for Filipinos to be entrepreneurs  but they should have the tenacity and will to have what it takes to be their own boss. “You don’t need a big capital to open up a business, but what I can advise is you must know your values and there are three main qualities that an entrepreneur must have: You must be a risk taker, an innovator and must have interpersonal skills.”

Learn the 4 ‘C’s. Green Circle Realty President Gabriel “Billy” Dominguez shared the four pillars of ‘salespreneurship’ where Filipinos can envision themselves having both the heart of a passionate agent and the mind of an accomplished businessperson. “We have the four ‘Cs’ of salespreneurship – para madaling tandaan, anuman ang inyong pasukan.

“You should Create a value for your business kasi pag walang value, walang negosyo. Pag na create niyo ang value, you have to Connect to the right market para pag na-connect niyo sa tamang tao, kahit gaanong kamahal yan, may negosyo kayo.

“The moment you find the right target market at kausap mo na yung ka-negosyo mo, make sure you Convert that into revenue. Wag mong palalampasin – kaharap mo na yung customer, make sure to convert it to a revenue or business.

“And lastly, kung gusto mong tuloy-tuloy ang negosyo, you have to Cultivate a relationship to your clients. Wag matapos na kapag nakapag close ka, tapos na. You have to cultivate a relationship because yang relationship na yan, yun ang magbubukas ng bagong business. Sabi nga nila Whenever we close a business, we open a new relationship. And when we open a new relationship, the business will continue. Kahit bagito ka kahit wala kang experience, pag sinunod natin ang 4 ‘Cs’ we can be the next successful businessman or salespreneur either in the Philippines or dito sa UAE.”
