Spider-Man stays with Marvel Cinematic Universe

Spider-Man fans now has a reason to celebrate as the web-slinging friendly neighborhood superhero will finally go back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Variety.com, both Sony and Disney’s Marvel jointly announced on Friday, September 27, that the two companies have reached an agreement after a conflict on a new financial deal last Summer. The new negotiations were made on Thursday.

The financial impasse has broken the hearts of Spider-Man fans who have began to love and follow the series since the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Spider-Man: Far from Home” installments in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

The two companies announced that Marvel Studios and its president, Kevin Feige, will produce the third film in the series due in July 16, 2021. It will still be featuring British actor Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

As part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in one future Marvel Studios film, said Variety.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige was quoted as saying in a statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Marvel fans have since welcomed the appearance of the young Hero into the Marvel’s Avengers movie series and in Captain America’s Civil War. In fact in the Avenger’s Infinity War, Spidey became the youngest and key member of the Avengers super team.

“We have had a great collaboration over the last four years, and our mutual desire to continue was equal to that of the many fans,” said Robert Lawson, chief communications officer for Sony Pictures Entertainment. “We are delighted to be moving forward together.”
