Veteran actress Mona Lisa dies at 97

One of the most popular actresses in the 1920s to 1940s, Mona Lisa has passed away on Sunday. She was 95.

She had numerous acting awards and was part of some of the most award-winning films.

Mona Lisa’s death was confirmed by her daughter Vangie Bacobo. She said her mother passed away peacefully at home without experiencing any pain.

Mona Lisa was Gloria Lerma Yatco in real life. She was the first actress to don a bathing suit on the big screen.

Her leading men inlcude the late Fernado Poe Sr. and Ely Ramos.

Mona Lisa’s biggest break was the film “Princess Urduja” in the 1942. Her showbiz career was put on hold during the war but she later on made a comeback film “Siyudad sa Ilalim ng Lupa.”

Her last film before retiring from showbiz was “Buhay Alamang” in 1952.
