Actor Jake Cuenca has expressed strong commitment to girlfriend Rabiya Mateo, saying he sees her as the woman he intends to marry just about a month after they confirmed their relationship.
Cuenca made the revelation during his guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where he officially confirmed their romance.
“Kami na. I’m really, really proud to say it because she’s an amazing, incredible woman and very intelligent,” Cuenca said.
He shared that he made the first move by following Mateo on Instagram, liking her posts, and eventually sending her a direct message after finishing his professional commitments.
“She has always definitely been a crush of mine. And once I was able to finish my responsibilities, I had to shoot my shot,” he said.
Cuenca said he admired Mateo’s determination, noting her decision to pursue medicine alongside her showbiz career.
The actor also revealed that he asked Mateo to officially become his girlfriend during a trip to Hong Kong, three months after they started dating.
He said this relationship is different from his past, as he now has a clearer sense of long-term intention.
“This is one thing that I wasn’t able to do in the relationships I had in the past. Before, I would date and be in a relationship and say, ‘Let’s see where this goes.’ I never used to date a woman with a purpose—you know, at the end of it. For me, with her, I have a purpose,” he confessed.
Host Boy Abunda remarked that he sees the relationship eventually leading to marriage, to which Cuenca agreed.
“I can see that… with her, I can really see it,” he said.
Cuenca and Mateo first sparked dating rumors in March after being spotted together in public before confirming their relationship the following month.
