Filipino arrested over alleged robbery of money exchange firm in Kuwait

Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a Filipino national accused of robbing a money exchange company in the Al-Shaab area and stealing an estimated 21,000 Kuwaiti dinars.

According to the Kuwait Ministry of Interior, investigators from the General Department of Criminal Investigation identified and apprehended the suspect following an extensive search and investigation.

Authorities said they responded after receiving a report from the money exchange company and immediately launched an inquiry into the incident.

Based on statements from employees, the suspect allegedly entered the establishment wearing a mask and carrying what appeared to be a firearm. Investigators later determined that the weapon was fake.

The suspect was also allegedly carrying a container believed to contain gasoline.

Authorities said the suspect threatened and assaulted several employees before entering the staff area and taking cash in various currencies.

The suspect then fled the scene with the stolen money.

Kuwaiti authorities did not immediately release additional details regarding possible charges or court proceedings against the suspect.
