Chito Miranda describes millenials as “sensitive”

Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda described millennials as individuals who easily get offended by the simplest things, unlike the 90s kids.

It all started when Miranda and his band performed their 1998 song “Silvertoes” at the ROCK MNL Concert in Makati on May 4.

After singing, Miranda thanked the crowd for not taking the song too seriously and simply appreciating it.

Based on the lyrics of the song “Silvertoes”, the singer is telling a female subject to stop thinking highly of herself because she is not as beautiful as she thinks.

He then went on to say that if “Silvertoes” was released today, it would not be widely accepted and would get highly criticized.

“Iba na ang away ngayon,” he said.

However, Miranda clarified that he has nothing against millennials, but they sometimes can be overly sensitive.

He added that millennials aren’t like 90s kids who don’t get easily offended by songs as no one protested against “Silvertoes” when it was first released in 1998.

“Anyway, no offense sa mga millennials. Kung na-offend kayo, sorry, pero sa mga batang ’90s, pare, alam natin matitibay ang mga dibdib natin,” he said.

The video of Miranda’s spiel made the rounds on social media which elicited mixed reactions.

There were some who agreed with Miranda, but there were some who found the lyrics “problematic.”
