Coco Martin to PNP: “Pasensya na po”

Kapamilya actor Coco Martin took to Instagram to apologize to the Philippine National Police (PNP) after the latter cried foul over the bad portrayal of cops in his action drama series, “Ang Probinsyano”.

According to state-run news agency, PNA, PNP on Wednesday lamented on how “Ang Probinsyano” is putting police officers in a bad light.

“Things are quite unusual here and it gives us a bad impression actually. It’s a bit unfair to PNP when you portray that kind of (bad) activity that doesn’t really happen in our organization,” PNP Chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde, told reporters.

Albayalde said he plans to write a letter to the Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTCRB) and the producer of the drama regarding this matter.

He also said the show’s portrayal of the PNP Chief as a villain is far from reality.

“It’s very disturbing and people see it as if instant justice is acceptable. It’s not. We are a nation of laws, not of men. That is what we want to show, that is why we are giving our comments,” he said.

As a response, ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communications head Kane Errol Choa released a statement saying “the characters, places, and incidents in the program are purely fictitious as stated in the disclaimer aired at the start of the show every night.”

“There is no intention to smear the reputation of any organization or portray any person in a negative light,” he added.

Moreover, Martin, who plays the lead role in the said action drama series, posted a photo on his Instagram with a message that reads, “Ang mga pangalan, karakter, at mga insidente sa programang ito ay kathang-isip lamang at hindi nagpapakita ng mga totoong tao, organisasyon, lugar, o kaganapan. Anumang pagkakahalintulad sa totoong buhay at ‘di sinasadya.”

“Pasensya na po,” Martin captioned the photo obviously referring to PNP’s reactions.
