Dubai Police have seized 300 gas cylinders that failed to meet safety standards and warned residents against purchasing cylinders from unlicensed suppliers.
The warning was issued by the Anti-Economic Crimes Department as part of an awareness campaign aimed at protecting residents from the dangers associated with illegally refilled gas cylinders.
Authorities said some unauthorized sellers use unsafe and unapproved methods to refill cylinders, significantly increasing the risk of fires and explosions inside homes, particularly during periods of high temperatures.
Dubai Police said inspection campaigns conducted in coordination with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy led to the confiscation of 300 non-compliant cylinders since the start of the year.
The figure compares with 575 cylinders seized in 2025 and 1,361 confiscated in 2024.
Police urged residents to purchase gas cylinders only from licensed companies and authorized suppliers operating in the UAE.
Authorities also advised the public to inspect cylinders for damage, corrosion, or leaks before use and to regularly maintain household gas connections and appliances to prevent accidents.
Dubai Police said efforts to monitor violations and crack down on illegal trading and refilling activities will continue as part of measures to protect public safety.
