The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is set to open an OFW Lounge at Mactan-Cebu International Airport this June as part of efforts to expand services for overseas Filipino workers.
The facility will provide a dedicated and comfortable space for OFWs and will include an OWWA e-Card facility to make registration and access to benefits and programs more convenient.
OWWA officials recently met with representatives of Aboitiz InfraCapital, the operator of Mactan-Cebu International Airport, to finalize preparations for the launch.
The agency said the project is being implemented under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the guidance of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac to bring government services closer to Filipino migrant workers.
The Cebu facility will be the third OFW Lounge operated by OWWA under its Alagang OWWA program, following the lounges at NAIA Terminal 1 and NAIA Terminal 3.
OWWA also acknowledged the support of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro for the project.
The OFW Lounge is scheduled to open at Mactan-Cebu International Airport later this month.
